ASM Installation process step by step in Oracle 11g

>> After created  VM ware version ,then continue ASM Installation process ,first create a saperate storage disk.

>> How to create a storage  disk ,then following this steps:

>>click  on   VM ,then you get  settings  option .

 

>> after get setting option  you can choose hardware .

>> click on ADD  

>>  select  hard disk .

>>  click on  Next.

>> select on SCSI .

>>  click on Next.

>>  select  create a new virtual disk.

>> click on Next.

>> Ensure write  maximum  disk size.

>> select  on  Allocate all disk space now.

>> select  Store virtual disk as a single  sile.

>>  click on Next.

>> set file name location.

>>  click on Finish.

>>  after creating  a disk  ,then once restart the instance .

 

>> after creating a separate hard disk then you can  continue ASM Installation  In This following steps.

ASM  IMPLEMENT FOR FEW STEPS:

STEP 1> : CREATE REQUIRED GROUPS&USERS
GROUPS: oinstall
dba
oper
asmdba
asmoper
asmadmin
USERS: grid
oracle

STEP 2: CREATE GRID BASE

STEP 3: CREATE GRID HOME

STEP 4: CREATE ORACLE INVENTORY FOR GRID USER

STEP 5: CREATE ORACLE BASE

STEP 6: CREATE ORACLE HOME

STEP 7: SET SHELL LIMITS FOR GRID USERS

STEP 8: CREATE RERQUIRED RAW PARTITIONS

STEP 9: INSTALL THE RPM’S( redhat package manage)

STEP 10: INSTALL GRID SOFTWARE FOR ASM

STEP 11: INSTALL ORACLE DATABASE S/W

STEP 12 : CONFIGURATION BASH_PROFILE

NOTE :

fdisk -l  ==> (To check existing of hard disk  or name of the hard disk)

cat  /etc/group ==> (To check the groups)

cat  /etc/passwd ==> (To check the users)

uname -r ==> (To check kernel version)

  • Now Let me  delete Existing Groups&User:

<STEP 1> : CREATE REQUIRED GROUPS&USERS

<STEP 2>: CREATE GRID BASE

<STEP 3>: CREATE GRID HOME

<STEP 4>: CREATE ORACLE INVENTORY FOR GRID USER

<STEP 5>: CREATE ORACLE BASE

<STEP 6>: CREATE ORACLE HOME

<STEP 7>: SET SHELL LIMITS FOR GRID USERS

NOTE: shell limits are text on End of file.

<STEP 8>: CREATE REQUIRED RAW PARTITIONS

NOTE: Here  first check raw partitions or disk partitions

==> Now lets create a disk partitions  ,creating a partitions you observe  command location  here ” e “for extended and  “p “for  print the partition . “n ” for  create a new partition .

==> assume that Here select “p” ,then you have no  print the partition disks ,so let’s create a new partition  press “n”. you get the primary partition (1-4) press “ENTER”. again press “p”  you get partittion nimber (1-4)  ,then you select  “1”. then  press “ENTER”  again  press “ENTER”.  then you  mention   partition disk  of the size =”+1g”.

==>   Again  new partition  press “n” you get command action  here select  “e”  extended to the partitions , then check you create a partition of disk  press “p”.

NOTE: Again create new partition as to be lets you continue same process.

==> Again  new partition  press “n” you get command action  press ” ENTER”  here select  ” l ”  logical  (5 or over)  then press “ENTER” ,then you have give  size of the partition +5g  , then press  “ENTER”.then you can create 8 logical partition..

NOTE:  similarly as to be continue same process next create a more partitions .

==> then press  “p”  print the partition table and save and quit (wq) the partition table has been altered.

==> Again check  disk partition list and  Restart  raw partitions using command “partprobe”.

<STEP 9>: INSTALL THE RPM’S  ( red hat package manage)

NOTE : Here  observe the command  dd if =/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb bs=8192 count=2560  ,In this command

dd= disk device

if= input file

dev=device

of= outputfile

bs= oracle block size =8192

count=2560 ( here 2560 time delete the content)

==> Before installing RPM”s  let me check existing RPM’s list are “5”  ,then installing  RPM’s  After that  once again check RPM count

NOTE: rpm -ivh  oracleasm   installing the rpms , ivh means Install varbos hash

==> CONFIGURATION ASM:

==> LOADING ASM DRIVERS:

==> CREATING DISK  (VOLUMES):

==> Now lets SCANNING THE DISK AND LABELS:

<STEP 10>: INSTALL GRID SOFTWARE FOR ASM

>>  Open VNC software  ,then create vnc password

>>  check   VNC server ,

>> Then Open VNC viewer  set VNC server =dbcentre2.oracle.com:1

 

>> Ensure that entry on you create a vnc password.

>>   Go to grid software loation  cd /opt/11gr2/grid/

>>  run the software through on ./runInstaller.

>>  Ensure Skip software updates are selected

>> Click Next.

>> Select Install and Configure Grid Infrastructure for a Standalone Server

>> Click Next.

>> Click  Next.

>> Set Disk Group Name to ASM_SPF_DATA

>> Ensure the Redundancy radio button is set to External

>> Ensure the Candidate Disk ratio button is selected.

>> SELECT 3rd disk  (ORCL VOL3) ,this disk is ASM SP file purpose choosing

>> Click  Next.

>> Select Use same passwords for these accounts

>> Enter a valid password in the Specify Password box.

>> Enter a valid password in the Confirm Password box.

>> Click Next.

>>  click on  yes.

>>  Set the ASM Database Administrator (OSDBA) Group to asmdba

>>  Set the ASM Instance Administration Operator (OSOPER) Group to asmoper

>>  Set the ASM Instance Administrator (OSASM) Group to asmadmin

>>  Click Next.

>>  Ensure Oracle Base is set to /u01/app/grid

>> Ensure software location is /u01/app/grid /product/11.2.0/grid_home

>> Click Next.

>>  Ensure the Inventory Directory is set to /u01/app/oraInventory

>> Click Next.

>> Select  ignore all .

>> click on Next.

>> Review the Summary screen

>> Click INSTALL.

>> As root, ask the UNIX administrator to run /u01/app/oraInventory/orainstRoot.sh

>> As root, ask the UNIX administrator to run /u01/app/grid/product/11.2.0/grid_home/root.sh

>>Click ok.

 

>> to run /u01/app/oraInventory/orainstRoot.sh

>>to run /u01/app/grid/product/11.2.0/grid_home/root.sh

>

> Click Close.

 

>> Now Installing  oracle 11g  database software:

>>   Go to oracle software loation  cd /opt/11gr2/database/

>>  run the software through on ./runInstaller.

>> deselect  the I wish to receive security updates via My Oracle Support box.

>> click  on Next.

>>  This is site specific and should be reviewed. Click yes.

>> Click Next.

>> Ensure Skip software updates are Selected

>> Click Next.

>> Ensure  select  install database software only

>> Click Next.

>> Ensure Single instance database installation is selected.

>> Click Next.

>> Ensure languages English (United Kingdom) are selected.

>> Click Next.

>> Ensure Enterprise Edition is selected.

>> Click Next.

>> Set Oracle Base to /u01/app/oracle

>> Allow Software Location to /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_home.

>> Click Next.

>> Ensure Database Administrator (OSDBA) Group is set to oinstall

>> Ensure Database Operator (OSOPER) Group is set to oper

>> Click Next.

>> Select  ignore all .

>> click on Next.

>> review  the summary screen

>> Click INSTALL.

>> Unix Administrator to run root.sh. – Note: There is a known issue with running this script.

>> Click OK.

 

>> To run  /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_home/root.sh

>>  click on close.
