If you want to add one or more physical disk

  • Fdisk
  • Oracleasm

#fdisk /dev/sdb
:c
:m (menu)
:p (print)
:n
: Enter ( automatically takes the value)
:+2gb
:p (to verify)
:w (permanent save)

---Suggested to reboot. Then this 2GB disk can add to oracle asm

root#oracle asm create disk DATA DG1 /dev/sdb7
(or)
root#/usr/sbin/oracle create disk DATA DG1 /dev/sdb7
#oracle asm scan disks
#oracle asm list disks
root#xhost +
#su – grid
gridi#asmca

Create DATA DG1 with External. CLICK OK.

New Disk is add to ASM

grid$export ORACLE_HOME=+ASM1
grid$sql plus “/as sys asm”
SQL>SELECT NAME,TOTAL_MB FROM V$ASM_DISK GROUP;
SQL>CREATE DISK GROUP DATA DG1 EXTERNEL REDUNDANCY DISK ‘/dev/oraclea sm/disks/DATADG1’;
Verify with this view
SQL>SELECT GROUP_NUMBER,NAME FROM V$ ASM_DISK GROUP;
SQL>SELECT NAME,PATH,STATE FROM V$ ASM_DISK WHERE GROUP_NUMBER=4;
Dropping The Disk
SQL>ALTER DISK GROUP DATA DG1 DROP DISK ‘DATA DG1’;
SQL>ALTER DISK GROUP SQLDG ADD DISK ‘/dev/oracle asm/disk/test2’;
Dropping the Disk group
SQL>DROP DISK GROUP DATADG1;
SQL>ALTER DISK GROUP TEST DB DISMOUNT;
#oracle asm delete disk DATA DG1
#fdisk –l
#d (This will releases from os level as well)
#7 (/dev/sdb7 – value)
#w (save)
ASMCMD Commands
grid$su – grid
#asmcmd
ASMCMD>ls
ASMCMD>Cd DATADG
ASMCMD>PWD
ASMCMD>lsdg ( List of disk group )
#asmcmd – p (Path will displays)
