How to install oracle enterprise manager manually

ENTERPRISE MANAGER(EM)

  1. It is a tool through which we can manage entire database and can perform all database actions in a single click
  2. Till 9i, it is called as oracle enterprise manager (OEM) and is restricted to use within the network of database
  3. From 10g it was made browser based so that we can manage the database from anywhere in the world
  4. EM can be configured either through DBCA or manual wayoracle enterprise manager
# Steps to configure EM manually
SQL> select role from dba_roles where role like ‘MGMT%’;
SQL> select account_status from dba_users where username in (‘SYSMAN’,’DBSNMP’);
SQL> alter user sysman account unlock; if not unlocked already
SQL> alter user sysman identified by oraman;
SQL> alter user dbsnmp account unlock;
SQL> alter user dbsnmp identified by dbsnmp;
SQL> alter user mgmt_view account unlock;
[oracle@server1 ~ ]$lsnrctl status (start the listener if not already done)
[oracle@server1 ~ ]$emca –configdbcontroldb –repos create
or
[oracle@server1 ~ ]$emca – repos create
[oracle@server1 ~ ]$emca – configdbcontroldb
# To drop repository
[oracle@server1 ~ ]$emca – deconfigdbconroldb –repos drop
# To recreate repository
[oracle@server1 ~ ]$emca – configdbcontroldb –repos recreate
# To manage EM
[oracle@server1 ~ ]$emctl status / start / stop dbconsole
