ORACLE UTILITIES

SQL * LOADER
  1. It is a utility to load the data from a textfile to oracle table
  2. The textfile is called as flat file. It can be in .txt, .csv, etc format
  3. SQL *LOADER contains following components
    1. CONTROL FILE – this will define the configuration parameters which tell how to load the data into the table. It has nothing to do with database control file
    2. INPUT FILE or INFILE – this is the file from which data should be loaded
    3. BADFILE – records which are failed to load into table (due to any reason) will be stored in this file
    4. DISCARDFILE – records which doesn’t satisfy the condition will be placed here
    5. LOGFILE – it will record the action of sql * loader and can be used for reference
  4. SQL * LOADER can be invoked as follows
    [oracle@server1 admin]$ sqlldruserid=system/oracle control=control.lst log=track.log
